Speech & Language Evaluations

Identifying communication barriers to unlock educational potential through expert SLP assessment.

Comprehensive Speech & Language Pathology

Communication is the foundation of learning. When a student struggles to understand instruction, express their thoughts, or navigate social interactions, their entire educational experience is impacted. CAS provides thorough Speech and Language evaluations to pinpoint the exact nature of these challenges.

Our licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) assess across all domains of communication to determine eligibility for services and identify the specific interventions needed to support the student's access to curriculum.

We Evaluate:

  • Language Disorders: Difficulty understanding (receptive) or using (expressive) language.
  • Speech Sound Disorders: Articulation and phonological processing issues.
  • Social Pragmatics: The social use of language and non-verbal communication.
  • Fluency & Voice: Stuttering, cluttering, and vocal quality concerns.

Common Questions

What is the difference between speech and language?

Speech refers to the physical production of sounds (articulation, voice, fluency). Language refers to the system of words and symbols used to share meaning (vocabulary, grammar, understanding directions).

Do you assess for Autism?

While our SLPs assess pragmatic language (social communication), a medical diagnosis of Autism often requires a multidisciplinary team. However, we can identify educational eligibility for Speech or Language Impairment related to social deficits.

Can you evaluate non-verbal students?

Yes. We have expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and can assess students with complex communication needs to determine appropriate devices or systems.
